Impact cases

We are grateful for the recognition of our research impact in the real world, including by media and government reports:

  • Our work on smart beaches analytics for improving beach safety, urban liveability and public amenity plays the critical role in the world-first application of cutting-edge technology for beaches. More information about the Smart Beaches project, 28 May, 2020.
  • Our work on big data platform-based advanced machine learning for informing trademark activities and examination has been delivered for IP Australia. IP Australia announced its smart trademark assistant in Trademark applications streamlined by machine learning, 28 May, 2018.
  • Our work on differentiated, tailored engagement has secured $1.4 billion on, or near on-time payments, from these habitual late payers for the ATO, announced in the Commissioner’s speech Better Services and a better experience for Australians, 31 March 2016.
  • Our work on analytic modelling to address non-lodgment mentioned in the ATO’s Commissioner of Taxation Annual Report 2014-15.
  • Our work on predictive modelling, data analytics intelligence and the use of behavioural insights mentioned in the ATO’s Commissioner of Taxation Annual Report 2014-15.
  • Our work on contemporary tools and services for taxpayers to pay on time or manage any debt that arises mentioned in the ATO’s Commissioner of Taxation Annual Report 2014-15.
  • Our work in tax analytics mentioned in the OECD paper on Working Smarter in Tax Debt Management in 2014.
  • Our work on developing targeted debt-collection strategies for debt management mentioned in the ATO’s Commissioner of Taxation Annual Report 2012-2013.
